Solving the HR Puzzle: #SoDakSHRM18
In 3 weeks, HR professionals from across South Dakota will gather in Deadwood for learning, networking, and of course some fun at the 2018 South Dakota SHRM Conference! The Black Hills SHRM is excited to share their part of South Dakota with the rest of us and have been working really hard for several years to put this conference together.
The conference committee has been led by Amanda Dokter, who is really proud of her team! She told me the best part about being the conference chair is "the ability to work with fellow HR professionals that I don't normally get to work with. My committee is great and has been very supportive and willing to help out!" This group of busy professionals has found time to meet throughout the past year to collaborate on this awesome conference and we are all excited to see you there!
Everything will get started Wednesday, May 9, kicking off with the first keynote speaker, Jody Urquhart. Jody will kick off with her talk titled "This would be Funny if it Wasn't Happening to Me!" She will also speak in one of the breakout sessions, just in case you can't get to Deadwood by the 1 p.m. start time. Wednesday closes out with a social event to highlight the city of Deadwood.
Thursday starts early at 8:30 with keynote Mike Oster, who also has a couple of breakout sessions later on Thursday if you decide to sleep in. The 3rd keynote, Mark Matteson, closes out Thursday, just before vendor last call and another great social event that highlights the city. Amanda told me "being in Deadwood, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to showcase this great city. We are working closely with the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce to provide a great evening event on Thursday that will have people exploring this historic city."
The conference committee has some great breakout sessions planned. Amanda can't miss sessions are Lisa Young's "Want a seat at the strategic table?" and James Rattling Leaf's "Cultural Intelligence for a Changing World."
